The giant-sized Central Asian Shepherd Dog has been used as a sheepdog, as a military dog, and as a guard-dog. Its protective instincts are significantly developed, and it will not hesitate to take on any foe who threatens its family or sheep, endangering its own life if need be. When this dog gets mad it becomes a veritable war-machine, and for this reason it is not recommended to inexperienced dog trainers and owners. It is by nature wary of strangers. It gets along well with children and is protective of them. Nothing scares it, and it is courageous.
The Central Asian Shepherd Dog is very large and muscular. Its thick coat comes in two varieties: short and long. The color of its coat varies greatly.
