Description

Character

One of the bigger terriers, The Airedale Terrier was originally bred to hunt otter. In England it has also been used as a police dog. With the proper training it can also be used as a shepherd dog. Being a terrier, it is stubborn and strong-minded, but at the same time it is very intelligent, and during hunting it can cope by itself without much guidance from its master. It is also a strong and brave dog that will not hesitate to take on anyone. As it is an energetic dog, it needs a lot of exercise or some task to keep it busy. It gets along well with children, but sometimes it plays rough so it must not be left alone with very small children.

Appearance

The Airedale Terrier is the biggest of the English terriers. It weighs around 25 to 30 kilos and its height is around 58 to 61 cm tall, with the female being smaller than the male. Its coat is of a medium-length, and it is curly, thick and rough. The color of its coat is brown and black.
