I Have A Question

The Afghan Hound was earlier used as a sheepdog and as a hunting dog. Today it is used mainly as a companion dog. It is loyal, sweet and affectionate toward its human family, but wary of strangers. It gets along well with children, as long as the children do not treat it in an especially harsh manner. It needs human companionship in order to be happy. As it is a hunting dog it cannot coexist peacefully with smaller pets like hamsters, cats, and rabbits. But it can coexist peacefully with other dogs. It is rather difficult to train so it requires an experienced owner. It loves the open country, and since it is by nature an energetic dog it requires plenty of exercise in order to attain physical and mental well being.

The Afghan Hound is a medium- to large-sized dog. Its height ranges from 61 to 74 cm tall and it weighs from 20 to 27 kilos. Its head is long and narrow, its eyes are almond-shaped and dark-colored, its ears are big, long and hang loosely, and its tail is hook-like. Its coat is long, thin, silky and soft to the touch, and it requires regular grooming and combing. It may have any color combinations (though golden and crème are the most common colors), and its muzzle is usually darker in color than the rest of its coat.
